Xbox One Unboxing Video, Includes Chat Headset

Microsoft has given us an up close look at its upcoming console by sharing the official unboxing of the Xbox One.

As it has been rumored, for every Xbox One (Day One Edition and Standard) will include an Xbox One chat headset and 4K HDMI cable.

'In the video, we are unveiling the Xbox One Day One edition – which includes a special Day One package, specially branded DAY ONE 2013 controller with chrome D-pad, and a Day One digital achievement. This will be available in limited quantities.

The Xbox One console, Kinect sensor – even the HDMI cable and the power supply ' have a “liquid black” finish, with a focus on a consistent 16:9 design ratio across all components. This attention to detail was intentional and a great example of how every component in the box was especially designed for Xbox One. You can hear more about our attention to design details from our design team here.

The Xbox One console is state of the art ' a 500GB hard drive, slot load Blu-ray drive, IR blaster port, HDMI input and output connectors, a S/PDIF interface, new Kinect sensor port, three USB 3.0 Super Speed ports, Wired and Wireless network support and a Kensington Security Slot. Of course, what’s most important is what the console can do – if you haven’t checked out the latest product details on Xbox.com, you should.

The all new Kinect has improved gesture and voice control, 1080p color HD camera for video with Skype and a greater field of view. On-board sensors improve fidelity of the depth-sensing and low-light visibility, along with a four microphone array and IR blasting capability.

The Xbox One controller offers over 40 design improvements, including a redesigned D-pad for accuracy, redesigned thumb sticks for better grip and control, new menu and view buttons, redesigned triggers and bumpers for accuracy and comfort, as well as exclusive impulse triggers for haptic feedback.

The new integrated battery compartment on the Xbox One controller blends seamlessly into the back, offering better comfort. You can play wirelessly with standard AA or rechargeable AA batteries, or via the standard micro USB port for wired gameplay. The micro USB cable will charge the batteries if you are using the Xbox One Play ' Charge Kit (it will not charge generic rechargeable AA batteries).

The chat on Xbox One offers 3x the sampling rate of the Xbox 360. The quality of the Xbox One Chat Headset speaker and microphone have been upgraded to take advantage of the much improved audio quality. It’s also super lightweight-only 44g-with a padded earpiece that can be worn on either your left or right ear, and a bendable, rotating mic boom. You can control mute and volume without taking your hands off the controller.

Of course, a HDMI cable, a power supply and a Quick Start Guide are included as well.'

The Xbox One will be released in November 2013.

This Week In Sales: Ace Attorney Returns As Strong As Ever

Last week saw the release of a game that’s been a long time coming—Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies, the fifth game in the main Ace Attorney series, which brings back a number of the series’ popular characters alongside new ones. Capcom sold 250,216 copies of Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies in the game’s first week on store shelves.

That figure is very well similar to how Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney sold back in 2007. In its first week, Apollo Justice sold 250,186 copies. Considering that there’s been a gap of six years between the two games, Dual Destinies’ sales are rather impressive and indicate that any fans that were lost in the interim have been made up for by new fans.

[Note: For much more Ace Attorney sales data, check out this report.]

Also released last week was Dragon’s Crown, Vanillaware’s multiplayer brawler. The game enjoyed a very respectable debut, with 104,359 copies sold on PS3 and another 71,083 copies on PlayStation Vita.

Finally, Nippon Ichi Software released The Witch and the Hundred Knights last week as well, and the game sold close to 50,000 copies. That puts it close to the sales of 2008’s Disgaea 3, which is pretty good, considering the low sales of Nippon Ichi’s other non-Disgaea games.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle Is Ultimately About Reading Your Opponent

JoJos Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle Is Ultimately About Reading Your Opponent

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 was not the only game CyberConnect2 president Hiroshi Matsuyama was open to speaking about when we caught up with him at a recent Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 promotional event in Tokyo.

'

Since the event was organized by Namco Bandai Games, the developer was also okay with talking about the next fighting-game-based-on-a-popular-manga-franchise they're working on for the publisher as well ' JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle.

'

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is a franchise that fighting game fans should be quite familiar with, even if they've never read the manga series or watched the anime, largely due to the Capcom 2D fighter first released in arcades over a decade ago. The game was re-released now re-mastered in HD for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.

'

Matsuyama allay any fears that All-Star Battle might turn out to be just like the Naruto Shippuden games, which are accessible to anime fans, but otherwise alienating fans of core fighting games such as Street Fighter IV or Persona 4 Arena.

'

"JoJo is ultimately about reading your opponent's moves in a fight, more so than in Naruto," Matsuyama said when we asked him how All-Star Battle would be different from their Naruto fighting games. "And so the style and controls here are shaping up here more like a conventional fighting game," he continued.

'

"Having said that, our mindset here is that we're not exactly tailor-making the title to suit the tastes of hardcore fighting game fans. Rather, we're striving to make a game that JoJo fans will enjoy."

'

As a fan of the manga series himself, Matsuyama also mentioned that his favourite character throughout the entire franchise is Part IV's Rohan Kishibe, but that his favourite storyline over all is that of Part V.

American McGee Flips Another Fairytale with OZombie

The tale of Alice in Wonderland has been told in books and by Disney on the big screen. The story consists of a curious girl adventuring through a strange world that could only have been plucked from the very dreams themselves. Building upon that premise, American McGee took the story of Alice and added a few hints of blood, and a dash of dark storyline, to create a winning adventure two times over.

Now, the haunt-repreneur is looking to apply that same world-turning experience to what we've come to appreciate in the land known as Oz.

The new 'Dorothy'The pitch for the title can be seen in the trailer above. Something immediately noticeable, besides the word 'zombie' being stitched into the title, are the new duds that Dorothy is rockin'. The style of clothing she sports is reflective of the game's story. The land promises to be ''mystical, filled with magic, enchantment,' while being pushed in a 'steampunk' direction. This is explained with the struggle of its citizens to either keep the Oz that they've grown to love, or move in the direction where outside technology has invaded the land.

The story is further impacted by the social persuasion that the people of Oz has fallen victim to. So, who is behind this power struggle? None other than the Scarecrow himself. Once again, he is craving brains and the only pacification is through mass indoctrination.

The story will play out through the single player campaign and then open up through the multiplayer. The modes available are something most gamers would appreciate, including offline play and DRM-free content.

From the release:

OZombie will be first and foremost a single player game. You'll play as Dorothy and be able to persuade many of the captivating fiction’s familiar characters such as Tik Tok and Billina to join your hunting party
OZombie will also support an optional multiplayer mode, which you can unlock after finishing the single player experience. In multiplayer you'll be able to select from a range of player characters and enjoy competitive features like Raids and Tournaments

The land of OZ

Much like the first 'Alice' title, the game is set to release primarily on PC and Mac. The Kickstarter for the title has recently launched, and there are plenty of goodies for backers.
